The Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure is one of a national series of similar
events conceived and implemented by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
to help achieve the Foundation's mission of eradicating breast cancer as a
life-threatening disease. Established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker in honor of her
sister, Susan G. Komen, who succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 36, The
